How Do We Envision Our Future?
Bismillah,
It has been quite a long stretch since my last post. Lots of things happened, definitely. I'm trying my best to get the writing process smoothen up since (I guess) it has been getting a bit rusty.
Last month I attended an Almaghrib seminar by Syeikh Yahya Ibrahim on the Tafseer of Surah Maryam. It is a really great weekend class and I'm really grateful to be offered a partial sponsorship to attend this seminar. The experience of attending an Almaghrib class is priceless, you're going to miss the vibes, the spiritual boost, the people that you met, all of it.
One of the things that Syeikh Yahya shared during this class is the power of du'a. If we look at the stories in Al-Quran, we'll notice that there are countless examples of the actors/characters making du'a. Prophet Zakariyya a.s prayed for a child (Surah Maryam), Imran (father of Maryam) also prayed for a son, Musa a.s prayed for a companion, and the list goes on.
The point that the speaker is making, is for us to pray, make du'a, make lot's of prayers. Share with Allah (in detail) of what we want, our grievances and sadness, things that makes us happy and joyful, our insecurities, our doubts, EVERYTHING.
And he challenged us (the attendees) to make a notebook of du'a, make lengthy ones, in high definition. Jokingly he used an example of our dream car, which brand? What colour is it? The same thing needs to be done in picturing our future. Dream and ask from Him, (in HD), because His Mercy and Bounty is limitless.
This challenge lingered in my mind as currently in my stage of life, there are lots of things that aren't set in stone yet. My career, spouse, marriage life, health, kids, family, passion, ambition, and the list goes on. It pushes me to gauge deeper in making du'a, which definitely needs a lot of improvement.
You know, sometimes we get carried away in repetitive acts, such as making a similar du'a that we learned during school years. There's nothing wrong in continuing the du'a, but having a visionary mindset, I think we need to detail up our plan, share more with our Creator. He knows, but He wants to hear it from us.
